THE ROOTS: BEGINNINGS AND CONNECTIONS

Childhood (1988-1999)

Bel’s childhood was marked by discoveries that already reflected a natural genius and a passion for creating and connecting. At the age of three, she was already organizing stickers with almost magical precision, arranging them in numerical order and trading duplicates. A shop owner noticed her talent with numbers and began rewarding her with extra packs every time she correctly calculated change. This perfect cycle—stickers, math, and recognition—helped shape her understanding of natural talents and the value of nurturing them.A few years later, another creative phase emerged: making and selling personalized keychains, bracelets, and necklaces, delighting friends and family with ideas that combined creativity and entrepreneurship. At the same time, her passion for technology grew, from assembling computers to learning how to program websites. But it wasn’t just about numbers and machines. Bebel loved teaching her schoolmates, creatively translating content for those who struggled, always finding new ways to learn and share. The cherry on top was the treasure hunts created by her mother, which stimulated her imagination and fostered connection with her sister. This mix of logic, technology, creativity, and love for people already revealed the traits that would stay with her for life.

First Internship: Imóvel Web (2004-2005)

In 2004, Bel began her professional journey as a software development intern at Imóvel Web, one of the pioneering companies in Brazil to offer an online platform for property owners to list their real estate directly. At the time, her work went beyond creating and maintaining features on the main website: she was also responsible for developing individual websites for the launch of new real estate projects. This hands-on and engaging experience was crucial in solidifying her passion for technology and demonstrating, from an early stage, how digital tools could transform entire industries and bring people closer to innovative solutions.

First Job: Mathematics Department at Colégio Etapa (2006)

In 2006, Bel had her only formal employment experience in Brazil, working in the Mathematics Department at Colégio Etapa. Her role was as diverse as it was stimulating: as a math tutor, she helped students solve questions and understand concepts in a practical and clear way. She also created exercises for exams and even for the Brazilian Math Olympiad, contributing to the development of future talents.Additionally, Bel guided parents and students in the admissions department, explaining the application processes for international universities. One of her major projects involved reviewing, line by line, hundreds of exercises from high school math workbooks, turning final answers into detailed solutions. This work not only strengthened her teaching and organizational skills but was also essential for saving resources and preparing for the next big step: studying at MIT in the United States.

MIT Experience – Academic and Cultural Life (2006-2010)

During her journey at MIT, Bel had an extremely rich academic and cultural experience. She began her campus life living in the German House, a cultural house, and later moved to Number 6, a unique co-ed fraternity on campus. With about 50 residents from dozens of countries, Number 6 provided an intense multicultural environment, full of exchanges and learning opportunities.Bel completed two majors: the first in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the second in Management. From the start, her path was marked by a deep passion for learning. While most students took four courses per semester, Bel enrolled in more than ten, fully exploring the opportunities MIT offered. Her curiosity led her to complement her studies with minors in Economics and Mathematics, further broadening her knowledge base.Beyond the classroom, Bel made the most of the opportunities MIT provided. She worked in the Admissions Office, where she began by opening application envelopes and gradually delved into the dynamics of the selection process. She also participated in several UROPs (Undergraduate Research Opportunities), undergraduate research programs exploring topics ranging from building robots to detailed financial analyses, such as the revenue mix between services and products in large U.S. companies. Thanks to her excellent grades, Bel also worked grading exams in the Physics, Mathematics, and Economics departments. During college, her journey was marked by strong involvement in entrepreneurship: she participated in the 100K Entrepreneurship Competition, one of MIT’s most iconic events. Additionally, she was selected to join the pilot class of the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program (GEL), an innovative program created from one of the largest donations in the Institute’s history, aimed at developing leadership skills in engineers. Being part of this pioneering class gave Bel the chance not only to learn but also to help shape a program that is now a reference at MIT.Another defining aspect of her experience was her passion for analyzing and translating her experiences at companies like Google and Microsoft. During college, Bel wrote papers on the culture and management of these organizations, analyses that were always very well received. This interest in communication and writing already indicated the important role these skills would play in her future career. These years at MIT were, for Bel, a unique combination of deep academic learning, multicultural experiences, and the development of essential skills for what was to come next.

TechCaller: Connecting Generations at MIT (2006-2008)

Shortly after arriving at MIT, Bel began working as a TechCaller, a position within the MIT Alumni Association. In this role, she called the Institute’s alumni, shared information about ongoing projects, and encouraged donations that funded transformative initiatives. The program was extremely well-structured, offering alumni various options to direct their contributions, as well as leveraging partnerships with companies that matched or even tripled the donated amounts. This job was much more than a professional opportunity: it was a way to practice English, learn about MIT’s funds and projects, and, most importantly, hear inspiring stories from previous generations. Through conversations, tips, and connections, Bel managed to raise around $100,000 for the Institute. The experience not only brought her closer to MIT’s culture but also strengthened her ability to engage people in meaningful causes.

Summer Internships: Microsoft (2007-2008)

Bel had the opportunity to complete two consecutive summer internships at Microsoft, both at the Redmond, Washington headquarters, and each provided remarkable and innovative experiences. In 2007, as an Explorer Intern in the Windows Mobile group, she had the unique chance to experience three fundamental roles in a technology project: Program Manager, organizing the project, writing specifications, and leading meetings; Developer, writing efficient code; and Tester, creating robust scenarios to validate the software. Her main project was the development of an RSS Feed Reader for smartphones, an application that facilitated personalized information consumption at a time when the concept of smartphones was still emerging. In the summer of 2008, Bel returned as a Program Manager Intern, this time in Office Labs, an innovation lab focused on productivity. She worked on a groundbreaking project called Touchless, which used webcams to create interactive multi-touch interfaces, allowing users to interact with the computer using real, colorful objects. In addition to creating this interface, the team developed a Software Development Kit (SDK) so that other developers could create their own multi-touch applications.Bel’s role in the project was essential: she led day-to-day activities, documented the SDK, produced demos to illustrate its potential, and recorded explanatory videos to help other developers use it. The Touchless project was launched on CodePlex, Microsoft’s open-source platform, and in just five days, it became the third most downloaded project out of more than 6,000 available.During an internal Microsoft productivity fair, where over 50 projects were presented, Bel showcased Touchless. The project was awarded the People’s Choice and became runner-up in the President’s Choice category, standing out among long-term projects. These experiences deepened Bel’s passion for innovation and demonstrated the impact that well-applied technology can have on the world.

Trading Intern: Deutsche Bank (2009)

In 2009, Bel had a remarkable experience as a Trading Intern in the Global Markets group at Deutsche Bank in New York, precisely during the post-financial crisis period, when the market was restructuring after the collapse of the real estate sector. Her work was directly connected to the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) desk, a type of asset-backed security that had been deeply affected by the crisis. This was a unique opportunity for Bel to understand what had gone wrong in certain algorithms and financial structures created before the crisis, and to observe firsthand how Deutsche Bank was adapting its strategies to find effective solutions. In addition to her work on the MBS desk, Bel also contributed on the Latin America options desk, focusing on the development of an ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund), a financial product backed by assets and traded like a stock on the exchange. The project aimed to create a product that closely tracked the performance of a specific basket of assets in the region, providing investors with an accessible way to diversify their portfolios. This experience was pivotal for Bel, not only because of her immersion in one of the most turbulent periods in financial markets but also because it gave her the opportunity to learn about the creation and implementation of complex and innovative financial instruments. She was able to closely analyze how markets operate during times of profound transformation and apply her knowledge in a highly practical and challenging context.

Software Engineer Intern: Google (2009)

In 2009, Bel was a Summer Intern as a Software Engineer in the Machine Translation group at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View. Her main project involved developing a profiling tool to identify bottlenecks in the company’s Google Translation code. At that time, Google was already handling large volumes of data to train its algorithms, but during data processing, the CPU occasionally faced challenges, resulting in lost work. The solution Bel created allowed the system to perform periodic code mappings, identifying and resolving issues before they caused data loss. When a bottleneck was detected, the tool took corrective actions to ensure that work was not lost, keeping data processing more efficient and continuous. This experience was a unique opportunity for Bel to dive into one of the most innovative fields in technology, working with large volumes of data and helping improve the infrastructure behind Google Translation — a field that perfectly combined her interest in technology, optimization, and practical solutions.

Product Manager: Ooyala (2010-2011)

After graduating from MIT, Bel moved to Silicon Valley and took on the role of Product Manager at Ooyala, a technology company focused on video solutions for major brands such as ESPN and Victoria's Secret. Her experience at Ooyala was transformative, as she witnessed the company’s explosive growth: from around 50 employees when she joined the hiring process to over 200 when she left. The company, highly focused on technology and innovation, raised significant capital and established strategic partnerships, allowing Bel to work alongside an incredible team under the guidance of an exceptional manager.Ooyala’s main product was a video platform that enabled brands not only to manage video content but also to integrate data, monetize, and distribute that content across multiple platforms. During her time at the company, Bel was actively involved in defining various strategic directions, participating in all stages of multiple projects—from planning to development and launch. She managed the product roadmap for three engineering teams, coordinating efforts while the company scaled rapidly and continued to recruit new Product Managers.Beyond her technical role, Bel was deeply involved in business development, attending strategic meetings to identify new business opportunities and better understand client needs. She worked on innovative projects such as the Open Player Framework, which allowed the integration of third-party video players into Ooyala’s video player, and on the launch of Over-The-Top (OTT) solutions, ensuring that Ooyala’s technology was compatible with connected TV devices like Roku and Boxee. Her experience at Ooyala not only exposed her to a fast-paced growth environment but also prepared her to handle a diverse range of challenges, combining technology and business development in a fluid and strategic manner.

TSVL - The Silicon Valley Life (2010-2013)

In 2010, shortly after moving to Silicon Valley, Bel created The Silicon Valley Life (TSVL), a blog where she shared her experiences and insights gained from participating in the countless events and activities happening daily in the region. Silicon Valley was a vibrant hub of innovation, with conferences, talks, and private gatherings bringing together some of the biggest names in entrepreneurship and technology. Always curious and eager to learn, Bel made the most of these opportunities, actively participating in everything she could. The blog became a way for Bel to translate this dynamic world of innovation and entrepreneurship for the public, summarizing key insights and learnings in an accessible way. This project was one of the first seeds of what would become a great passion for communicating the world of entrepreneurship, making it more understandable and inspiring for those outside this environment. TSVL also served as a way for Bel to reflect on her own journey while documenting the entrepreneurial movement around her.

Co-Founder & Head of Business Development: Lemon (2011-2013)

Bel was the co-founder and Head of Business Development at Lemon, a startup focused on creating innovative solutions for managing personal documents and financial information. The company’s main product, Lemon Wallet, was an app that allowed users to digitize and create replicas of their physical wallets, storing information such as driver’s licenses, credit cards, and receipts.Lemon Wallet not only provided a secure digital backup, but also incorporated an intelligent layer, with advanced features designed to optimize the user experience. The app automatically transcribed receipts, alerted users about upcoming document expirations, and connected with banks to monitor suspicious activity, providing a greater sense of security. One of its most innovative features was the ability to cancel lost or stolen cards and documents with a single phone call, where the user confirmed some information and the Lemon team handled the entire process, offering convenience and peace of mind.As Head of Business Development, Bel was instrumental in shaping the company’s growth strategy, establishing key partnerships, and working on the development of new features to expand Lemon’s impact, which became the #1 app in the Finance category on the App Store. Her experience at Lemon was crucial in consolidating her ability to combine technology with a strong focus on user experience, creating practical solutions for everyday problems.

The course culminated in a presentation to a panel of investors and entrepreneurs from Brazil and Silicon Valley, who provided valuable feedback on the prototypes created.

In 2013, FazINOVA launched an online course platform that stood out for its pioneering and innovative approach at the time: offering high-quality content that was free and accessible to everyone. At a time when online courses were still a novelty and most platforms charged for access, FazINOVA took the lead, betting on a free and accessible model in partnership with companies. This vision anticipated trends in online learning and knowledge democratization and reflected a strong commitment to social impact.Launched in partnership with PwC, the platform started with two courses: Business Model Canvas, presenting a practical and flexible methodology to help people structure projects and businesses, and The Girl from Silicon Valley, providing insights on how an entrepreneurial mindset can foster personal and professional growth. In addition to the content, the platform included interactive exercises and a digital “notebook” for participants to record their reflections and progress. In classes focused on leadership, innovation, and collaboration, students were also encouraged to submit video responses, creating a “human resume” that highlighted behavioral skills and provided a unique advantage for those looking to map high-value competencies.

Online Course: "Business Model Canvas" (2013)

In 2013, Bel Pesce launched the Business Model Canvas course in partnership with PwC, alongside the launch of FazINOVA’s online platform. The course was created as a direct answer to the question Bel heard most during her lecture tour: “I have an idea. Now what?” With a practical and agile approach, the course helped participants structure, prototype, and iterate their ideas, teaching them how to turn an insight into a real business. It encouraged learners to update their plans as new information and learnings emerged, demonstrating that the entrepreneurial process is dynamic and ever-evolving. This hands-on activity guided students in identifying key milestones for their own growth, encouraging reflection on personal skills and goals that could strengthen their entrepreneurial journey. At the end of the process, each student had a personalized development plan, fostering self-awareness and a long-term vision for achieving their objectives.

The documentary sensitively and counterintuitively examined how Grandma Ju perceived longevity. For her, the idea of being “near the end” was not part of her perspective; she simply continued living fully in the present. Digital Minimalism Movement" (2019)

In 2019, Bel Pesce launched a movement called Digital Minimalism, inspired by the idea of promoting a more conscious use of time and social media. The concept encouraged reducing online presence, dedicating less time to networks and more to developing projects and real-world connections. The central idea of the movement was to reflect on more meaningful ways to spend time, avoiding the trap of mindlessly scrolling through feeds. By sharing her experience and insights, Bel encouraged others to consider the impact of social media on productivity, the quality of interactions, and overall well-being. Digital Minimalism became an opportunity for many to rethink the role of technology in their lives, finding a healthier balance between online and offline.

“Infinite Existences” Movement (2019)

Also in 2019, Bel Pesce launched the Infinite Existences movement, exploring a deeper understanding of themes such as presence, self-knowledge, and love. The central idea was to recognize the “infinite existences” each person carries within themselves, reflecting on aspects of life such as purpose, flow, faith, mindset, authenticity, purity, empathy, transformation, acceptance, and life cycles. The movement was marked by a special live session that gathered these ideas and generated a series of inspiring content. Among these materials, Bel and her team created wallpapers featuring unique phrases and images that conveyed these concepts and could be used on mobile phones. These resources reinforced the movement’s message, promoting moments of introspection and inspiration throughout the day.

Live Series about Self-Knowledge (2019)

In 2019, a live series focused on self-knowledge was launched, addressing topics such as tools for self-discovery, the power of immersive experiences for deep learning, and the importance of random collisions and connections as catalysts for personal transformation. During the live sessions, discussions also included continuous learning cycles and suggestions for possible paths to live more authentically and aligned with one’s true self. The live series invited the audience to reflect on their own journey of self-discovery and how to incorporate this knowledge into daily life.

Abundance Tour (2019)

This movement originated from the idea of living a life fully aligned with one’s true self, embracing the concept that blessings come through movement and find you when you pursue what truly matters. With this purpose, Bel Pesce embarked on a journey to visit every country in the world, aiming to explore new cultures and places while expanding her understanding of abundance. The Abundance Tour involved not only trips with specific goals, such as lectures or events, but also moments of spontaneous discovery, where Bel allowed herself to experience new things, make new friendships, and connect with fresh ways of building business and relationships. The first destination was Cambodia, for a wedding, but the journey’s purpose always went far beyond the destination or objective itself — it was an opportunity for God to reveal to Bel the abundance of perspectives and experiences through each trip.

Abundance Tour Bracelets (2019)

As a way to share the essence of the Abundance Tour, Bel Pesce created a symbolic project involving bracelets, which become special keepsakes for the people she meets along the journey. Each bracelet, in a different color, carries a message of abundance. All bracelets bear the same inscription: “Your purpose is to design a life fully aligned with who you truly are”, with each color representing a different aspect of abundance, symbolizing distinct messages and intentions. When Bel meets someone with whom she feels a special connection or wishes to leave something meaningful, she randomly selects a bracelet and gives it to the person, leaving behind a tangible message of abundance.

“Creating Opportunities” Online Course (2020)

In 2020, the course Creating Opportunities was relaunched entirely for free, featuring a series of daily live sessions that deepened the understanding of how to create opportunities in a creative and prosperous way. The pandemic brought new perspectives on what it means to find and generate opportunities, especially when we are more connected to our purpose and aligned with the relationships that truly matter. The live sessions complemented the original course, offering expanded learnings on how to generate opportunities authentically, in alignment with personal, social, and professional values.

Permission Vouchers (2020)

The Permission Vouchers were a special creation by Bel in 2020, designed to help people allow themselves to live more in accordance with their authentic choices and desires. The project was both a printed booklet and a downloadable digital file. The format resembled a checkbook, with each page providing a prompt to write down what one permitted themselves to do in that moment. The idea was simple: to give oneself permission to act freely, take steps toward personal goals, and make meaningful changes, whether through small gestures or major decisions. This project was launched alongside the Creating Opportunities course, serving as a symbolic way to encourage self-knowledge and action.

Positive Interference Collective Mentorship (2020)

The Positive Interference Collective Mentorship was an online program designed to help small groups of people navigate their personal and professional challenges. Each cohort consisted of around ten participants, who met live to discuss their issues, set action plans, and share learnings. Bel acted as a facilitator, fostering a highly collaborative environment where everyone contributed ideas, suggestions, and experiences. Additionally, each participant received an exclusive document containing Bel’s life and career experiences, which could serve as a starting point to explore paths and options complementing their personal and professional journeys.

Abundance Lives on Social Media (2020)

The Abundance Lives were a series of live Instagram broadcasts where Bel shared her reflections on how social media positively influenced her life and projects over the years. Each session offered insights into the abundance generated through connections made, opportunities arising, and lessons Bel had accumulated since 2012 from her engagement with online platforms. The goal was to demonstrate how, over time, social media can become a powerful channel to create, share, and multiply opportunities, while promoting a conscious and strategic approach to using these platforms to foster personal and professional prosperity.

Serendipity Experiment (2020)

The Serendipity Experiment was a series of spontaneous Zoom gatherings organized by Bel to explore the concept of serendipity — when something valuable happens unexpectedly. Without prior notice, Bel would announce on Instagram Stories that a Zoom meeting was about to take place, open to anyone available to join. During these sessions, spontaneous activities emerged, such as inviting participants to choose objects from shelves behind Bel and share the stories related to them. Conversations flowed naturally based on group interactions and choices, creating a unique and organic experience, with reflections on abundance and insights that arose unexpectedly.

Abundance Tour (2021)

In 2021, following the pandemic hiatus, Bel resumed the Abundance Tour with a deeper, more personal approach. The focus shifted to understanding what it means to follow one’s heart and how choices rooted in this intimate connection can transform life. The concept that blessings come with movement was renewed, now with a refined perspective, emphasizing that to live with purpose and alignment, it is essential to listen to the heart’s true desires and act accordingly. The Abundance Tour became a journey in which Bel sought to experience and reflect on abundance across different contexts and cultures with intentional introspection. In a year of fluctuating borders, Bel lived deeply immersive experiences with diverse families and cultures, staying in locations such as Salvador, Boipeba, Dubai, and Sharjah. Driven by serendipity and seeking to encounter the world’s most interesting people, she shared her daily life with hosts from various backgrounds and professions. These experiences provided not only enriching lessons on entrepreneurship and success but also human and reflective insights through conversations with people of remarkable and diverse life paths.

Serendipity Lives (2021)

Through a series of live broadcasts, Bel brought the concept of serendipity into people’s daily lives, offering practical tips and examples to increase the presence of unexpected, valuable moments. Beyond explaining the concept, she actively demonstrated living it, sharing her learnings as a life arc and showing how to intentionally embrace moments that bring value and meaning.

Infinite Existences in São Paulo (2021)

Over four months, Bel conducted an unusual experiment in São Paulo, living in 21 different apartments, spending approximately five days in each. In each new residence, she immersed herself in the neighborhood, arranging meetings, exploring the area on walks, and discovering lesser-known corners of the city. For each stay, she prepared different suitcases with objects, books, and clothing chosen to explore various aspects of life. This project not only fostered personal immersion but also allowed her to test innovative solutions in the short-term rental sector, collaborating with companies and services offering unique ways to manage and rent apartments in 2021.

Living at Expo2020 Dubai (2021)

Bel experienced a unique two-week immersion at Expo2020 Dubai, living on-site and becoming one of the first people to visit all over 200 pavilions. The global event, themed Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, explored sustainability, mobility, and opportunities. In addition to national pavilions, there were themed and special spaces, such as the Cartier-sponsored Women’s Pavilion. By deeply engaging with the event, Bel shared insights with her network and team and offered suggestions to the Expo organizers. This immersion allowed her to gain a profound understanding of how each nation translated its human potential and vision for the future, providing a global perspective on possibilities and opportunities.

Serendipity VIP (2021)

In 2021, Bel Pesce launched Serendipity VIP, an exclusive program that went far beyond conventional mentorship. In this project, Bel engaged in deep immersion into each participant’s history, dreams, and life journey. Using an innovative and resource-rich approach, she designed personalized, viable strategies aligned with each participant’s values, experiences, and current stage of life. The process sometimes included trips to locations significant to the mentee’s personal history or projects, enabling Bel to understand the cultural, emotional, and professional context necessary to offer genuinely transformative recommendations. The program focused on structuring short-, medium-, and long-term strategic plans, fostering new projects with an integrated vision and genuine connection to the mentee’s essence and aspirations.

The objectives include making visible the invisible aspects that shape decisions and relationships, providing clarity about the essence and blind spots of an organization or individual, and transforming these insights into practical, purpose-aligned action plans.
